Hello!
In larger Forum it seems a (good) habit to maintain stickys to common topics, the scala mailing list is FULL of usefull stuff but searching via subject or full text will only give you insufficient (IMO) results.

I know its not fair since this forum is a (single person?) small group effort but I like to compare this with: ubuntuforums.org

This is such a good a example for a forum. There you have a nice software (vBulletin) you can use tags for your postts( imagine you could tag your posts with scala version! e.g. 2.7.7 or 2.8.0 final ) and a nice community which maintains great stickys and helps with all other stuff!
OK I understand you can't buy a good community but i think Stickys and tags on Topics would really improve he quality of a SCALA Forum!

Also it would be very nice if we could somehow could integrate topics from the mailing lists.

I had a hard time finding any scala forum to talk about tools or anything scala related. Because of this, I suggest the owners of the forum apply for a link from the official scala webpage so people can get some beginners help/community feeling.

This is a nice and simple forum, so this should be perfect as an official forum.
first time i saw this forum, i thought the just startet it with "Phorum", but with some time it will be changed.
I think this forum has very low usability ! i used to see all anwsers after one click, i hate to cklick every time for next anwser in a topic. Forum needs something to bring it to LIFE !!! This boring style and structure should be changed !

Why dont't you use vBuletin, InvisionPower ,phpBB or something like that.
Make THIS FORUM ALIVE with new style and usable structure !!
I like lists, but they don't seem to work. To wit:

Bullet

Bullet

Who's got the bullet

One

Two

Three

Alpha

Beta

Gamma

I created all of these using the toolbar. The first is a bullet list, the second numbered and the third lettered. You see the result.
